Thoth joins the Open Book Collective

We are delighted to welcome Thoth as a member of the Open Book Collective!
Thoth is a non-profit platform and service developed out of the Community-Led Open Publication Infrastructures for Monographs (COPIM) project that provides open metadata management and dissemination for Open Access (OA) books and book chapters. Through Thoth, publishers can easily create and distribute metadata in multiple formats, submit metadata to e.g. Crossref for DOI registration, or archive content in university repositories via the Thoth Archiving Network. Thoth also supports third-party applications through its open APIs, enabling innovative new content and services to be developed with reliable metadata. Ultimately, Thoth's platform and services assist publishers in the creation and management of metadata for their titles, leading to more complete and higher-quality metadata that benefits the entire scholarly publishing ecosystem.
In addition to Thoth joining the OBC as a service provider member, it provides a crucial service for the Open Book Collective, acting as the backbone of the OBC’s shared catalogue by pulling metadata through Thoth’s API. We are delighted to have Thoth as a service provider member and to use Thoth to further enhance the platform's capabilities for sharing and disseminating OA content.
The OBC envisions the creation of a diverse and sustainable future for OA, and service provider members are crucial to that. We believe in collectivism, non-competition, and the rejection of Book Processing Charges. The OBC gathers together a range of OA presses and publishing service provider initiatives that fit our membership criteria, creating a trusted group of OA initiatives for libraries to support, and for authors and readers to explore. In this way, the OBC assists publishers in securing sustainable revenue streams to fund a fair and diverse future for OA books.
